What actually happens to your video

A video you have already published somewhere. We read how long it is before anything is charged, so the price is never a guess.
We listen to the whole thing
The audio is transcribed with timings for every word. If there is no speech, which is normal for ads, music and live sets, we score loudness and camera cuts instead.
We pick the moments worth posting
Not the first minute. Moments are scored across the full runtime, and each clip starts and ends on a finished sentence rather than in the middle of one.
We keep you in frame
A long video is wide and a short one is tall, so something has to be cut away. We follow the speaker rather than cropping the middle and hoping.
Captions are burned in
Word by word, timed to the voice, in a colour you choose. Most people watch with the sound off.
You download what you want
Each clip shows its size before you tap. Nothing downloads on its own.

Questions

Which links work?: Most links work today. YouTube is the exception and it is unreliable from our servers right now: the platform blocks datacentres, and we are putting the fix in place. If a download is blocked you are refunded in full, automatically, so it costs you nothing to try. Uploading a file directly is coming.
How long does it take?: Longer than a minute, less than an afternoon. We are not going to give you a number until we have measured a real one, and when we have it will be on this page.
What if it fails?: Every credit comes back, every time, including when the failure is a blocked download. That is our problem to fix, not yours to pay for. The full rule is here.
Can I close the tab?: Yes. The job runs on our servers, not in your browser. Close it, lose signal, come back tomorrow: the clips will be waiting in your account.
My video is not very high quality. Is that a problem?: Often not. We check the resolution before charging you and warn you if a shape would come out soft. A wide clip from a small video still looks fine, and a 4:5 clip needs a lot less than a full vertical one does.
Do credits expire?: No. They sit in your account until you use them.
How many clips do I get?: As many as the video has moments worth posting. A long talk gives more than a short one. We would rather give you three you will actually post than ten you will not.
